Exercise and hypertension

The American Heart Association is recommending three to five days a week of physical activity to help prevent and treat high blood pressure.

The American College of Sports Medicine has established guidelines based on age and risk factors for individuals with hypertension. If you are younger than 40 and apparently healthy, then moderate to vigorous physical activity is suggested. If you are older than 40 and apparently healthy, then moderate physical activity is suggested, while vigorous activity should be cleared by your physician.
