FDA Warns About Trasylol

According to an Associated Press story, you need to be wary if you are using the heart drug Trasylol. Trasylol also goes by the brand name aprotinin. It is used to dissolve blood clots and is classified as a Bayer AG drug. It is mainly used to prevent excessive bleeding in heart surgery bypass patients. 

The FDA has reported on a Canadian study that assessed the safety of the drug. The findings were not positive.  They were done on a trial of 3000 patients. Right now Trasylol is still a treatment option and the FDA is thinking of changing its label.
